National Funding

Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF): Proposals for research projects related to the SPHN initiative (except proposals for infrastructure projects) can be submitted to existing funding instruments. These proposals will be in competition with other proposals in biology and medicine.

Researchers who wish to conduct an independent investigator initiated clinical trial can find support through the instrument Investigator initiated clinical trials (IICT).

ETH Domain Strategic Focus Area in Personalized Health and Related Technologies (PHRT): PHRT will fund projects in education, technology translation and research to foster personalized medicine/health research, connecting the institutions of the ETH Domain and hospitals in order to share and use health-related data across Switzerland.

Innosuisse: Proposals for application-oriented research related to the field of the SPHN initiative may be submitted to Innosuisse.

Fondation Leenaards: Supports projects in the field of translational research and medicine, or projects contributing to the dialogue between science and society.

Gerbert Rüf Stiftung: Supports projects with innovative character and potential for impact, which are worthy of and in need for funding, as a link between pure and applied research.

Swiss Cancer League/Swiss Cancer Research Foundation: Supports innovative cancer research projects.

Swiss Academies of Medical Sciences (SAMS): Supports research in various medical fields through various funding programms and grants of smaller size.
