Governance

The SPHN project organization involves partners at national, technical and institutional level.

Both the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences (SAMS) and the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics are responsible for the implementation of the mandate.

While the SAMS is the overarching body of the SPHN initiative, the SIB is responsible of the implementation of the BioMedIT project and manages the Data Coordination Center.

Governance - SPHN Initiative

The National Steering Board (NSB) is the highest body of SPHN and includes representatives from key institutions in Switzerland (e.g. University Hospitals, Universities, ETH Domain, swissuniversities, FOPH, SNSF, patient organizations).

In addition to the NSB, SPHN is composed of the following Expert Advisory Groups and Boards:

  • ELSI Advisory Group (ELSIag)
  • National Advisory Board (NAB)
  • Hospital IT Strategy Alignment Group (HIT-STAG)
  • International Advisory Board (IAB)
  • Data Coordination Center (DCC)

Governance - BioMedIT Project

The BioMedIT Board is the strategic and executive body of the BioMedIT project. It includes representatives from the BioMedIT nodes (HPC clusters), as well as representatives from SIB Management.

Further, the BioMedIT project is driven by several Working Groups and three BioMedIT nodes which are coordinated by the Personalized Health Informatics Group (PHI):

Implementation Teams

The Management Office (MO) together with the SIB Personalized Health Informatics Group (PHI)  coordinate the development of the SPHN initiative.

The MO is managing the overall initiative and daily operations and the PHI manages both, the SPHN Data Coordination Center and the BioMedIT project.
