Thomas Geiger is the new Managing Director of SPHN as of 1 March 2021, after an ad interim period during which the Management Office (MO) was joined with the Department Science of the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences under the lead of Myriam Tapernoux. In addition, Sarah Vermij strengthens the SPHN team as new scientific coordinator.
Molecular biologist by training and former manager of Personalized Health Basel, Thomas Geiger joined the SPHN MO last October. He brings a broad skill set, management expertise and a profound knowledge of SPHN, both from the research and clinical sides. In his new function and together with the SPHN team, he is looking forward to continuing to support researchers and clinicians and to involve all relevant stakeholders at the national level to help SPHN progress in creating a collaborative, sustainable personalized health ecosystem.
Sarah Vermij, scientific coordinator at the SAMS General Secretariat since September 2020, newly reinforces the MO part-time. She holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, during which she handled and analyzed large transcriptomics and imaging datasets. She brings further expertise in scientific writing and academic editing, and a lot of enthusiasm and curiosity.
Myriam Tapernoux returns full-time to her position as Head of the Department Science at SAMS. We warmly thank her for her commitment and all the work invested to ensure a smooth transition in the critical period between the first and second SPHN funding phases.
