With this new SPHN metadata catalogue researchers can interactively visualize schemas and explore project metadata. It enables seamless navigation between datasets, improving interoperability within the network of SPHN.
Which projects use which data schemas? With the SPHN Schema Scope, the new metadata catalogue by SPHN, users can interactively visualize different schemas, and find and compare project metadata. It facilitates access to both the SPHN Schema and project-specific schemas, providing researchers and developers with an intuitive way to explore complex data structures. The metadata catalogue consists of a graphic visualisation of the variables used by different schemas and how they are interconnected. In addition, it offers a table view for the metadata and allows to investigate subsets of interest of a given schema.
The schemas currently available are the SPHN Schemas of 2023 and 2024, as well as the project schemas of three National Data Stream projects and six Demonstrator Projects. The data from these SPHN- and PHRT-funded projects can be shared in line with the FAIR data principles.
The first release of the SPHN Schema Scope includes features for browsing the relationships between various datasets, enabling seamless navigation between the SPHN and project-specific data structures. Researchers can easily identify the re-used subsets of the SPHN Schema that are relevant to their projects, improving interoperability and easing data integration efforts across the SPHN network.
This tool is an ongoing development effort, and future updates will enhance functionality to support more complex schema interactions, additional project metadata, including a FAIR Data Point. We encourage users to explore the SPHN Schema Scope and leverage it in their projects.
