In 2023, SPHN met with representatives of the German and Dutch national health research data initiatives (Medizininformatik-Initiative (MII) and Health-RI respectively) in Berlin to compare experiences and best practice through discussions around legal frameworks, informed patient consent, semantic interoperability, data exchange processes, and failures and remaining challenges, amongst other topics.
The three initiatives have taken different approaches to addressing their similar aims, and the discussions resulted in very rich learning opportunities for everyone involved.
